Trauma & The Body

How does trauma affect the body?

Unresolved trauma does not always manifest purely as mental/emotional symptoms. It may also lead to a condition of chronic emotional fatigue and chronic stress manifesting in a myriad of physical symptoms:

  • Anxiety
  • Mood swings
  • Mental and physical fatigue
  • Sluggishness
  • Chronic muscle spasm
  • Uncertainty
  • Fear that comes and goes
  • Panic attacks
  • Sleep problems
  • Chronic digestive upset
  • Constant body aches and pains
  • Stiff neck and/or limited range of motion
  • Muscle jerks
  • Churning stomach
  • Eye strain
  • Loss of interest (in everything)
  • No sex drive
  • Pounding heart, skipped beats
  • Low self esteem
  • No confidence
  • Withdrawal
  • Sensitivity to bright lights
  • Sensitivity to noise, especially loud sounds
  • Depression
  • Tension headaches or other headaches

  • As fatigued in the morning, upon awakening, as when you went to bed.

  • Tension
